Martin Brodeur, Devils move further from potential reunion

The dream of Martin Brodeur returning to run the Devils may not be dead, but it surely looks like it isn’t happening anytime soon.

The Blues announced Wednesday the former all-time great Devils goalie has signed a three-year deal to be the St. Louis assistant general manager. On May 4, the Devils announced the hiring of Ray Shero as the new general manager, with long-time GM Lou Lamiorello pulling back to be the team president.

The length of Shero’s deal is uncertain, but it surely led to Brodeur’s decision to stay in St. Louis, and has at least slowed — if not halted — his arrival in the New Jersey front office.
