The Red Sox extended their lead atop the AL East to five games, while the Patriots are back in Foxborough for another string of practices before heading to Detroit.
NBC Sports’ Tony Dungy on the possibility of the Patriots repeating: “Everybody thinks that the defending champions are unbeatable. It’s hard to repeat. And if I was a betting man, I wouldn’t bet on the Patriots—not because I don’t think they’re the best team—I just think it’s hard to repeat. It’s not done that often, so if you have the Patriots versus the field, I would take the field and say that there’s somebody that’s going to come out of nowhere and rise up.
