Patriots Lose LeGarrette Blount For Season

Add another name to the long list of players the New England Patriots have lost this season. Running back LeGarrette Blount's season is over after he suffered a hip injury Sunday night.

It's the second RB the Patriots have lost this year, as Dion Lewis went down earlier this season. Blount was the team's only true between-the-tackles back on the 53-man roster. Blount's injury leaves just James White and Brandon Bolden on the active roster. Both are better fits as third down backs.

Blount had 165 carries for 703 yards for 6 TDs this season. He leads the team in all three of those categories. He didn't contribute much in the running game and was off the field in most passing situations.

The Patriots added Montee Ball to the practice squad and he could get the call to the active roster now that Blount is done for the season. The Patriots will have an open roster spot when they place Bount in injured reserve.
