Patriots News: Patriots targeting Cal TE Richard Rodgers in draft?

In Patriots news tonight, the New England Patriots may be looking to the 2014 NFL Draft for help at tight end and former California Golden Bears tight end Richard Rodgers could be the one to fit the bill.

According to Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net, "the New England Patriots have been closely inspecting tight ends in the lead up to the draft and a name fans of the team should keep an eye on is Richard Rodgers.  The Cal tight end has worked out for the Patriots, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders."

Pauline also adds that NFL teams are utilizing Richard Rodgers' dad, Carolina Panthers special teams coordinator Richard Rodgers Sr., in order to gain more information about Rodgers' ability to make the leap to the NFL game.

The New England Patriots have been rumored to be on the look out for depth at the tight end position, with Aaron Hernandez's departure and Rob Gronkowski's injury possibly playing a big factor in the Patriots' plans come draft day.
