Over the last decade, the Nevada Wolf Pack athletic department has had one sport that has been its constant bread-winner from a financial standpoint: the men’s basketball program.

That was no different in the 2016 fiscal year. While most of the Wolf Pack’s 15 programs operate at a deficit, men’s basketball has routinely made money. According to the Wolf Pack’s financial offering to the Board of Regents, which both Nevada and UNLV will meet with Thursday, the Wolf Pack men’s basketball program netted a profit of $1.823 million last fiscal year ($4.721 in revenue; $2.899 million in expenses).
