The Wolf Pack is feeling the pinch of rising construction costs.
As a result, the school's new grand north entrance at Mackay Stadium, originally dubbed Champions Plaza, won't be completed before the start of the 2017 season. Instead, the project won't begin until after the 2017 season and is now projected to open prior to the 2018 season, a nearly year-long delay.
Wolf Pack athletic director Doug Knuth wrote a letter to donors of the project Thursday about the delay. The letter was obtained by the Reno Gazette-Journal.
"Earlier this spring, with fundraising completed, we moved forward in the construction process to solicit bids from local construction companies," Knuth wrote.
