Names start to emerge in Pack coaching search

Wolf Pack athletic director Doug Knuth has kept his search for the Nevada's next football coach a closely guarded secret, but some names have started to pop up and others have been eliminated.

Former Nevada offensive coordinator Chris Klenakis, who was one of five finalists for the job when it opened in 2013, isn't a candidate this time around.

Klenakis, the co-offensive coordinator at Louisville, has long coveted the Wolf Pack job. The Reno native began his career coaching Churchill County High before becoming a key part of the Pistol offense's invention. Another of those Pistol architects, Jim Mastro, who is a running backs coach at Washington State, told the Spokesman-Review he hasn't spoken with Nevada.
