Part of what went into Nebraska outside hitter Andie Malloy’s best match of the season began earlier in the week.
Malloy had a match-high 15 kills Saturday when Nebraska beat Washington 3-0 in the Lincoln Regional final.
Nebraska coach John Cook told Malloy that somebody on the team who opponents may not expect to was going to have a big match during the Lincoln Regional.
“I was hopefully planting a seed in her head that it would be her. Do you remember Andie?” Cook said.
Malloy said she did remember.
“I think teams kind of don’t pay attention to her, and (setter Kelly Hunter) had her in a great grove tonight.
