LAWRENCE, Kan. — In one offensive sequence with about three and a half minutes left against Kansas, the Nebraska men's basketball team missed at least five point blank shots.
Miss. Battle for a rebound. Miss again. Battle again. On it went until the Jayhawks finally secured the ball and drew Glynn Watson's fifth foul.
No. 3-ranked Kansas shot 65 percent from the field while building a 20-point halftime lead, and cruised to an 89-72 win over Nebraska Saturday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse.
The Huskers (5-5) showed their characteristic fight despite the large deficit — something NU fans have become all too accustomed to seeing — and had a chance to cut the deficit to 13 with more than 14 minutes still to play.
