Down to its final out, the Nebraska softball team scored three times in the seventh inning Friday to send the game to extra innings, then added three more two-out runs in the top of the eighth to rally for a 7-4 victory against Northern Iowa in the season opener for both teams at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Nebraska trailed 4-1 entering the seventh. Kiki Stokes and Laura Barrow hit back-to-back singles to open the inning. With the tying run at the plate, Alicia Armstrong lifted a fly ball that was caught at the fence for the second out.
