Heraklion, Crete – Jack McVeigh’s streak of two straight double-figure efforts was snapped early Saturday in Australia’s 66-58 loss to Canada at the FIBA Under-19 World Championships.

McVeigh, who had averaged 11.4 points per game during the tournament heading into Saturday’s action, was held to just six points on 3-of-6 shooting while also grabbing three rebounds and dishing out two assists in 17 minutes.

Saturday’s setback marked the second time Australia had lost to Canada in the tournament following a 74-71 Canada win during a week ago.

Australia, which had a one-point halftime lead, took a 39-36 lead on a Kyle Clark 3-pointer with 6:34 left in the third quarter, but Canada closed the quarter on a 14-2 surge to regain control and take a 50-41 lead into the final 10 minutes.
