The Government Shutdown Could Cancel the Navy-Air Force Game

The Navy-Air Force game scheduled to take place this Saturday in Annapolis could be canceled as a result of the government shutdown. If the sold-out matchup between the two service academies is canceled, there will be an announcement at www.NavySports.com prior to noon on Thursday.

Intercollegiate athletic competitions at all service academies have been suspended by the Department of Defense as a result of the shutdown, and Saturday's game between Army and Boston College is presumably under threat of cancellation as well. Kickoff for Navy-Air Force has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium on Saturday, and if the game isn't cancelled it will be broadcast on CBS.

UPDATE 11:58AM PST: All sports at service academies have been temporarily suspended -
