Polu moves to head of class on Navy defensive line

Navy football has been blessed with some outstanding defensive linemen in recent years.

Bernie Sarra may be the best nose guard the Midshipmen have fielded since switching to a 3-4 defensive alignment in 2003. Will Anthony and Amos Mason rank as two of the top defensive ends to come through the program during that time.

Defensive line coach Shaun Nua fully intends to continue that tradition and is looking for junior end Jarvis Polu to lead an otherwise inexperienced unit.

Polu is the lone returning starter along the defensive line and will be asked to make the type of impact as Anthony and Mason, who were both disruptive forces coming off the edge.
