Navy moves Malcolm Perry from quarterback to slotback

Malcolm Perry made national news last season when he literally came out of the stands to play quarterback for Navy in the opener against Fordham.

Starting quarterback Tago Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury early in the second quarter, thrusting backup Will Worth into the game. Unbeknownst to anyone in attendance at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium that day, third string quarterback Zach Abey was not available because he had been suspended for one game by head coach Ken Niumatalolo.

Navy suddenly needed a backup quarterback and offensive coordinator Ivin Jasper made the decision to pull Perry out of the Brigade of Midshipmen and have him rush to the locker room to change out of his dress whites into a football uniform.
