Navy goes from hopeful to heartbreak during AAC Championship

This was supposed to be Navy's broadcast to the world.

Coming into Saturday's American Athletic Conference Football Championship versus Temple University, the Naval Academy's football team was riding high. They were ranked No. 19 in the College Football Playoff Rankings and, with a win against Temple, would have had a shot at the Cotton Bowl.

Chuck Miller, who graduated from the Academy in 1991, said Navy's first AAC Championship game "adds a whole other level of things you play for."

"We've had a really solid program for a lot of years," Miller said. "The fact that we were (ranked) 18th last year and we're ranked 19th this year.
