In the midst of a bunch of roster moves expected over the next day, the Canadiens made a somewhat unexpected one this morning, announcing that Jarred Tinordi would be going to the American Hockey League's St. John's IceCaps for a conditioning stint.
Canadiens today assigned defenseman Jarred Tinordi to the @IceCapsAHL (conditioning purposes).

Tinordi has yet to play since the pre-season and with Alexei Emelin back and healthy, the time was right for Tinordi to get some ice time in. The team did a similar transaction with Greg Pateryn who played some games in the AHL before getting some NHL time with Emelin's injury.
