Philadelphia Union announced this week that midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta will be returning to FC St. Gallen at the end of the MLS (Major League Soccer) regular season. Barnetta started his professional career with Gallen. The Swiss midfielder appeared in 37 matches for the Union since signing back in July of 2015.
Barnetta said in a statement, “The entire soccer community here was so welcoming, and I’m so thankful for everyone at Philadelphia Union for making me feel so appreciated. Playing in front of my friends and family and making plans for life at the end of my career where I want to live is a force I can’t resist.
