Los Angeles Angels ace Garrett Richards has a torn ligament in his pitching elbow and is expected to need Tommy John surgery, according to multiple reports.
Richards, 27, had already been scratched from his scheduled start Friday because of fatigue and dehydration.
The elbow tear was first reported Friday by Yahoo! Sports. If he undergoes the surgery, Richards would miss the rest of this season and a significant portion of next season.
