Marlins players will all wear No. 16 in honor of Jose Fernandez

Every member of the Marlins will wear No. 16 on Monday as a tribute to Jose Fernandez, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

The game will be Miami’s first since Fernandez was killed in a boat crash early Sunday morning. Sunday’s game against the Braves was canceled.

The pitcher’s mound at Marlins Park was turned into a memorial to Fernandez on Sunday, with his number drawn on the back of the mound and his hat resting on the rubber.

Several teams hung a Fernandez No. 16 jersey in their dugouts on Sunday and many players drew tributes to Fernandez on their equipment.
