GoFundMe page helps send 97-year-old WWII vet, Cubs fan to World Series

Related Topics: World Series, World War II

Jim Schlegel is 97 years old. He actually attended the last game the Cubs played in the World Series. He served in World War II and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. He’s a lifelong fan.

And now, thanks largely in part to the internet, he’s going to Wrigley Field and sitting in the front row for Game 3.

Schlegel’s granddaughter, Helen, set up a GoFundMe page to try and get Jim a ticket. That and coverage from local press helped garner some attention, and made its way to Marcus Lemonis, star of CNBC’s The Profit.
