MLB Trade Rumors: Eric Hosmer And Yankees, Red Sox Scouting Mike Minor And Top Pitchers Available

The MLB trade deadline isn't for nearly a month and a half, but there are already several notable rumors floating around. That includes who could be dealt and which teams are ready to buy and sell. Here are all the latest MLB trade rumors from the hot stove you need to know.

Yankees and Eric Hosmer?
The Royals hold a 28-34 record and seem primed to sell before the deadline. One of several pending free agents, 1B Eric Hosmer is an obvious candidate to be dealt. And there's already some buzz that the New York Yankees have interest in Hosmer. MLB Trade Rumors, NJ.com and Outside Pitch all suggest a trade between the Royals and Yankees centered on Hosmer.

Hosmer has played well this year, hitting .314 with seven homers after a slow start. Hosmer would be a rental for the Yankees, as they have Greg Bird as the 1B of the future. It's also worth noting the Royals used their first round pick in this year's MLB Draft on high school first baseman Nick Pratto. MLB Trade Rumors also suggests the Rangers and Marlins could have interest.

Red Sox Scouting Mike Minor
Here's yet another player the Royals could trade. Mike Minor doesn't get the same trade buzz players like Hosmer, Mike Moustakas or Lorenzo Cain do, but there's interest.

Minor has emerged in a relief role for the Royals, with a 2.25 ERA and 1.0 WHIP. The former Braves starter has missed the last two years with injuries and is in the final year of his deal. He has a $4 million salary for this year, with a $1.25 million buyout and a $10 million mutual option. For a team looking for left-handed bullpen help, Minor has emerged as a notable target. Minor would be an upgrade over Fernando Abad for Boston.

Sonny Gray, Jason Vargas Most Coveted Pitchers
The Royals also have one of more coveted starters on the trade market in Jason Vargas.

"With Jose Quintana ineffective, Vargas has become the pitcher most asked about in trade discussions, according to a major league source," writes Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. "Right behind him is Oakland’s Sonny Gray. The Orioles need to come up with one of these two. Gray would be more costly in terms of prospects needed to acquire him. The feeling is that teams in need will have to step up well ahead of the trade deadline to land either."

Vargas is 8-2 this year with a 2.18 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. If he keeps pitching like that, the pending free agent could fetch a nice return for the Royals. Gray has missed time due to injury this year (again) and has posted a 2-2 record with a 4.34 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. However, he's only had one bad start that's inflated those numbers. Cafardo also mentions the Marlins' Edinson Volquez and Jaime Garcia of the Braves as other notable pitchers who could be dealt at the deadline.
