MLB Spring Training News And Rumors Roundup On Kyle Kendrick, Edwin Encarnacion And More

Spring Training is well underway for MLB teams, as the focus has finally shifted from MLB front offices to the players on the field. Opening Day is almost here, although there's still some activity from the MLB Hot Stove to work through. With that in mind, here are the latest MLB Rumors for March 30th.

Angels Sign Kyle Kendrick
The Angels had added veteran pitcher Kyle Kendrick.

A minor league deal means that Kendrick won't be starting the season with the major league team. Instead, the 31-year-old pitcher will start the season in Triple-A. Kendrick started the offseason with the Atlanta Braves, but struggled. He was bad last year with the Colorado Rockies. Kendrick has not posted a sub-4.00 ERA since 2012. However, Kendrick helps provides the Angels with some rotation depth.

Encarnacion To Hit Free Agency?
The extension talks between Edwin Encarnacion and the Toronto Blue Jays have stopped and likely won't continue.

Encarnacion said earlier this offseason he didn't think the Blue Jays planned on keeping him. The first baseman and designed hitter will turn 34 next offseason and is likely looking for one more big contract. Encarnacion has played well in Toronto, but the Blue Jays might not be able to keep both Encarnacion and OF Jose Bautista.

Mariners Make Trade With Padres
The Seattle Mariners have swung a trade with the San Diego Padres, although it's not exactly a blockbuster. The Mariners announced they added reliever Nick Vincent in exchange for a player to be named later. The 29-year old righty was out of options, and will help a Mariners bullpen needs the help. Vincent has a career 2.63 ERA.
