MLB News And Rumors: Adam LaRoche Sounds Off, Braves OF Arrested And More

News and rumors are heating up around MLB a little over two weeks in. 

Adam LaRoche has finally spoken at length about the saga involving the Chicago White Sox and his son, Atlanta Braves outfielder Hector Olivera is in police custody for alleged domestic violence, and Colorado Rockies rookie Trevor Story has finally come back down to earth.

LaRoche speaks his mind

Former White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche retired this offseason after a highly-publicized fallout with team over the presence of his son Drake in the clubhouse. He has finally opened up on the matter in an interview with ESPN the Magazine. Some highlights:

LaRoche does not regret his decision: "If (Drake) were to die tomorrow, I guarantee you I'd be looking back and saying I wish I spent more time with him."

But he also understands why there was an opposition: "I'm not saying this is the way everybody should raise their kid. ... There's a chance we could have other guys see Drake and think, 'I'll bring my kid, too.' Obviously we can't turn this into a day care. I get it."

 

Olivera in hot water


Hector Olivera has been placed on "administrative leave" by the MLB following an arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman at the Atlanta Braves team hotel. The 31-year-old Cuban is the starting left fielder for the 0-7 Braves.

Atlanta released the following statement after learning of the incident: 

 

Story slows down

Out-of-nowhere rookie sensation Trevor Story was finally held hitless in a game, going 0-for-4 against the San Francisco Giants. Going into the game, the Rockies shortstop had an MLB-record seven home runs in six games. Story will look to build on his incredible early-season tale against Giants starter Jake Peavy on Wednesday.
