Matt Kemp

Matt Kemp arrived with the San Diego Padres in the first wave of major acquisitions from general manager A.J. Preller last December. The Friars saw a chance to relieve the Dodgers of Kemp, who had apparently worn out this welcome in Los Angeles. The trade was essentially Kemp and $30 million for catcher Yasmani Grandal.

Kemp got off to a hot in April, hitting .326/.357/.478 with a 136 OPS+, and his at-bats were among the most impressive I’ve seen in a long time.
