NLCS Game 3 Instant Reaction: Giants Take 2-1 Series Lead With 10-Inning Win Over Cardinals

The Giants raced out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but the Cardinals tied things up to send Game 3 to extra innings. San Francisco came out victorious in the bottom of the 10th, though, thanks to a walk-off throwing error from Cardinals pitcher Randy Choate that allowed Brandon Crawford to score on Gregor Blanco's single.

Turning Point:

While this one didn't last the four hours typical of recent Giants games, it was tied going into extras...and it wasn't decided until Choate's error allowed Brandon Crawford to score the winning run.

Key Stat:

Sergio Romo - the man responsible for the homer that won St. Louis Game 2 - will be credited with today's win despite throwing just six pitches. Romo is now 1-1 in the postseason.

Cardinals MVP:

Kolten Wong came through with two hits, including a triple in the bottom of the fourth that scored Jon Jay and Matt Holliday.

Giants MVP:

Travis Ishikawa continued his playoff hot streak with a three-run double in the first.

What’s Next?:

The Giants now hold a 2-1 series lead, and will hope to keep their momentum going tomorrow in Game 4, scheduled for 8:07 PM ET Wednesday at AT&T Park.
