COLUMBIA, MO. • The Missouri basketball team finally got off to a fast start Tuesday and avoided the early scoring drought that’s plagued so many games lately.
This time the drought was on delay.
Mizzou raced out to a 16-2 lead on Miami (Ohio) at Mizzou Arena and watched the visitors go more than nine minutes between points. But the Tigers weren’t immune from their own power outage.
They needed a Terrence Phillips 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the first half to recapture the lead and avoid another meltdown against a mid-major conference opponent.
