Missouri TE Kendall Blanton to miss spring practice after ankle surgery

Missouri tight end Kendall Blanton will miss spring practice due to injury.

The Kansas City Star reported Wednesday that Blanton had surgery on his right ankle last week to repair torn ligaments. He has been wearing a protective boot and using crutches since the surgery.

Blanton, who is expected to start at tight end for the Tigers this fall, had 16 catches for 161 yards and three touchdowns last season as a redshirt sophomore.

Blanton redshirted as a freshman in 2014 and recorded no stats after playing primarily on special teams in 2015.

With Blanton out, fifth-year senior Jason Reese will be Missouri’s only tight end with college experience available this spring.
