Strafford wins softball state championship

Strafford won the Missouri High School Class 1 softball State Championship on Sunday with a 3-0 victory over Purdy at Killian Sports Complex in Springfield.

Strafford was dominant during the state tournament, winning its four games by a combined score of 23-1.

Zoey Mullings struck out eight Purdy batters to earn the win in the circle for Strafford on Sunday afternoon.

At the plate, Strafford's Rilie Vote opened the fourth inning with a solo home run, and Alissa Collette added a 2-run double.

With Sunday's win, the Lady Indians finish the season 25-1 overall. Their only loss this season came against Purdy back in March.
