Former MSU star Ryan Howard lands with Colorado Rockies organization

Former Missouri State University star Ryan Howard has agreed to a minor league deal with the Colorado Rockies franchise.

Howard, 37, joined the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes on Saturday. He went 1-for-6 with a double off the wall in the team's 22-1 win on Sunday.

Howard spent 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, hitting 382 home runs and winning both the National League Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player honors during his tenure.

Howard has not appeared in a major league game this season. He played 11 games this spring for the Atlanta Braves Triple-A team but was released after hitting only .
