'Distraction control' a big part of Bears' game plan this week

The Missouri State football program has something junior receiver Malik Earl calls “distraction control.”

It’s what keeps the outside noise to a minimum and secures the players and coaches inside a virtual bubble.

That way, the only focus is on the next play, the next series, the next practice and the next game.

After starting quarterback Breck Ruddick was suspended by Bears coach Dave Steckel last Friday amid allegations of animal abuse, the team has its sights set only on Indiana State, Saturday’s opponent in the Missouri Valley Football Conference opener.
