The 2016 college football season is over, and the SEC by any measure was very average during that season.
That’s bad for the SEC, but possibly good for Dan Mullen and Mississippi State.

With Alabama the only SEC team finishing with double-digit victories in 2016 — and with coaching numbers showing that the league has missed on several coaches — the door indeed could be open for Mullen and the Bulldogs to return to the top of the SEC in football in the near future.
