SEC quarterbacks dominate watch list for Davey O’Brien Award

The SEC looks like quarterback country in 2017. Want further evidence? Just look at the contenders for the nation’s top quarterback award.

Six quarterbacks from the conference were named Wednesday to the watch list for the Davey O’Brien Award, presented annually to the top quarterback in college football.

That total is 20 percent of all those on the list and leads all conferences.

Alabama sophomore Jalen Hurts, the reigning SEC offensive player of the year, is one of four SEC sophomores on the list. Also on there are Jake Bentley of South Carolina, Jacob Eason of Georgia and Shea Patterson of Ole Miss.
