Mississippi State’s defense had its best statistical outing against BYU. To turn that into wins, though, Bulldogs defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon said his defense must be more opportunistic.
Sirmon said the near-misses left Mississippi State just a bounce or two from success last week.
The Bulldogs held BYU to 14 points in regulation, but went on to lose 28-21 in double-overtime after several missed opportunities to force turnovers or bat down passes.
“The plays where we needed to get better, I thought, we had a lot of opportunities to knock the ball down,” Sirmon said.
