SEC regular-season review: 2016 was all about Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide

It has been a fun, unpredictable and, in many ways, strange season of football in the SEC.

• Alabama (13-0), ranked No. 1 and headed to the College Football Playoff, is just a whole lot better than everybody else in this conference. Only one of the Tide’s conference games (a 48-43 win over Ole Miss on September 17) was decided by fewer than 10 points.
• How dominant was Alabama? Here’s one measuring stick: In nine games against SEC competition, the Crimson Tide outscored their opponents by an average 24.8 points per game.
• Depending on how you want to spin it, the rest of the SEC was balanced or average.
