College football rankings, Week 9: So long, top 25, and thanks for the all the losses

It feels like almost a week too late, but Ole Miss is officially unranked in both the Coaches and AP Top 25 polls, a first for Rebel football since Nov. 23, 2013. A 38-21 Week 8 loss to LSU has effectively consigned the Rebels' 2016 campaign to oblivion, and the mere thought of fighting back to .500 with Auburn and Texas A&M still on the schedule is liable to produce a deep sense of nausea in every Rebel football fan.

Speaking of Auburn, the Tigers climbed to No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 poll, following a 56-3 shellacking of Arkansas that has many in CFB media tentatively accepting the fact that Gus Malzahn's men are for real this season.
