DENVER -- Coach's challenge in the NHL is so new that a day before the Wild's season opener, Mike Yeo wasn't quite sure how he'd call for one.
"Maybe I'll throw my tie on the ice," the Wild coach joked.
There may be some uncertainty surrounding the new challenge rule, but the Wild get their first taste of it in their season opener Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche.
For the first time in league history, NHL coaches are able to call for a video review of whether a goalie was interfered on a play that led to a goal, and whether a team entered the offensive zone offside on a play that led to a goal.
