Vikings News: RB Matt Asiata Clears Concussion Protocols, Returns To Practice

Minnesota Vikings running back Matt Asiata returned to practice on Wednesday after missing last Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers with a concussion.

According to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com, a potential Asiata return against the Carolina Panthers could make things interesting when it comes to head coach Mike Zimmer's running back rotation:

Asiata, who missed Sunday's game with a concussion, returned in a limited capacity during Wednesday's practice. Running back Jerick McKinnon sat out on Wednesday with a low back strain, as he did last week, but the Vikings will likely have the rookie on the field on Sunday. Joe Banyard gained 45 rushing and receiving yards on eight touches last Sunday, and the Vikings claimed Ben Tate off waivers last week. It's not likely they'd have use for four running backs on Sunday, so a deactivation against the Carolina Panthers (or a roster move before then) could help resolve the logjam.

The Vikings haven't commented on any potential roster moves at this juncture, but Asiata indicated to reporters on Wednesday that he is "ready to go." Stay tuned.
