Vikings NFL Draft Rumors: Everything You Need To Know Heading Into Draft Week

The 2015 NFL Draft is just a few days away, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about the festivities in Chicago if you’re a Minnesota Vikings fan. Here’s our breakdown of everything Vikings fans need to know heading into draft week.

Vikings Want To Trade Down

Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman isn't holding all of his cards close to the vest leading up to the draft, as he says he wants to trade down in the first round, but if they don't find a deal they like, they have players they like at No. 11:

“I’m looking forward to potentially moving out of that pick, if at all possible. I don’t anticipate us moving up at this point, but I would love the opportunity to move down and collect more picks. My goal is always to have 10 picks and one of the reasons for that is you get the opportunity to move up and down throughout that draft. We may just stick at 11 this year if there’s a player that falls to us who’s just too good, we’re not going to pass and just going to take him,” Spielman said.

Minnesota Not Likely To Trade Adrian Peterson On Draft Day

Despite star running back Adrian Peterson's desire to be traded from the Vikings, Minnesota seems intent on keeping him, according to ProFootballTalk:

A potential trade of running back Adrian Peterson would have plenty of moving parts.  By all appearances, none of those parts have been moving, yet.  At this point, the fact that nothing is happening in connection with a potential trade makes it less likely that anything will.

Any team interested in trading for Peterson would have to work out a new contract with him.  Likewise, any team would want to give him a full physical in order to determine that the man who has played in one game since December 2013 remains fit and able to do so.

That process would require communications between the Vikings and a suitor for Peterson, communications between the Vikings and Peterson’s agent, and communications between a suitor for Peterson and his agent.  It would be difficult if not impossible to keep those communications away from the media.

So with absolutely nothing currently happening, it appears that a trade won’t be occurring before or during the 2015 NFL draft.  Which makes a trade of Peterson at any point this year less likely.
