Donovan McNabb? No thanks

That picture is something I hope never happens. When the lockout ends, all signs point to Washington trading or releasing poor Donovan. There has been speculation of McNabb-to-the-Vikings for quite some time now, even predating the whole Favre debacle two offseasons ago. Many fans would love an opportunity to see McNabb in purple, but I see it differently. This is a team that needs to get younger, not older. Christian Ponder has to be the starter from day one. The days of Carson Palmer and Daunte Culpepper riding the bench for a season are over. Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez have proven that a team can succeed with a rookie quarterback, so why deny Ponder that opportunity? Also, the one connection Donovan always had in Minnesota, Eagles' former offensive coordinator Brad Childress, is thankfully gone.

I always thought McNabb got way more guff than he deserved. He took the Eagles to FIVE NFC Championship games, and the most successful era in team history, and yet, he was run out of town. In Washington, he received the brunt of the blame for the Redskins' disastrous season, and again, is on his way out. It seems like the guy can't catch a break lately. I hope he does. He's a smart, veteran player and his Chunky Soup commercials were wildly underrated. He'll have a job when the season starts. I just hope it's not as the Vikings' starting quarterback.
