Kyle Gibson gets Twins back on winning track

After watching their longest winning streak since 2011 snapped to end a road trip, the Twins got back on a playoff push with a 3-0 win over the Houston Astros on Friday night at Target Field.

Kyle Gibson got his first win since July 12 after starting the month of August with four no decisions in five starts.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander was replaced with two outs in the sixth inning after keeping Houston scoreless. He gave up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 111 pitches, including 69 strikes.

Brian Duensing (one-third on an inning), Glen Perkins (one inning), Trevor May (one inning) and Kevin Jepsen (one inning) closed it out for Gibson (9-9), who got out of a few jams despite failing to pitch six innings for the seventh straight game.
