Twins send shortstop Danny Santana back to Triple-A

For the second time this season, Opening Day shortstop Danny Santana is headed back to Triple-A Rochester.

Also sent back after Friday's game was rookie shortstop Jorge Polanco. Called up for a three-game stint while Trevor Plouffe was on the paternity list, Polanco will go all the way down to Double-A Chattanooga so he can continue to play shortstop.

Newly acquired reliever Kevin Jepsen will take the other spot on the 25-man roster as the Twins return to an eight-man bullpen.

"We want to make sure those guys get plenty of play at shortstop and get consistent at-bats at those positions," Twins manager Paul Molitor said.
