Twins pitcher Trevor May's Seattle homecoming will be a family affair

SEATTLE -- When Trevor May takes the mound at Safeco Field on Saturday night, his rooting section of friends and family will be more than 100 strong.

None of them, however, figures to be more invested in his outing, pitch by pitch, than Lorraine Wheatley, maternal grandmother of the young Twins right-hander.

"I'd have to say she is probably Trevor's biggest fan," Terrie May, the pitcher's mother, said Friday. "I mean the biggest. Absolutely."

At 78, Wheatley is two weeks removed from shoulder replacement surgery, but she wouldn't miss this long-awaited homecoming for the world. The last time she watched May pitch in his home state, it was in the Mariners' stadium in May 2008.
