Trevor Plouffe on Paternity Leave, an Opportunity for Jorge Polanco

The Minnesota Twins have placed third baseman, Trevor Plouffe on paternity leave. Jorge Polanco has been called up from Triple-A to take his place on the roster.

Plouffe and his wife are expecting their first child this morning. The third baseman will likely rejoin the team Saturday.

That gives Polanco three games to prove he belongs with the big league club.

It’s no secret the Twins need an upgrade at shortstop. Before Troy Tulowitzki was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays the Twins were reportedly one of the teams interested in acquiring the veteran shortshop.
