The Twins have found help for their struggling bullpen, reportedly acquiring veteran right-hander Kevin Jepsen from the Tampa Bay Rays for minor-league pitchers Chih-Wei Hu and Alexis Tapia, the team announced.
Jepsen, who turned 31 on Sunday, is 2-5 with a 2.81 earned-run average in 46 outings this season. His ERA is 4.60 in 18 outings since June 11, during which he has allowed a .707 combined on-base/slugging percentage and a 24-percent line-drive rate.
In his first season with the Rays after spending the previous six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, Jepsen is due about $1 million for the remainder of the season.
