Top 2017 free agents include Timberwolves’ Gorgui Dieng

The 2016 free agency period has barely wound down, but the never-ending cycle of the NBA encourages us to already look ahead to next summer.

The fantastic Kevin Pelton at ESPN Insider has already done just that, ranking the top-30 free agents of next year’s class.

Pelton’s methodology uses his SCHOENE projection system and ESPN’s Real Plus-Minus statistic to come up with Wins Above Replacement Players (WARP) to establish these rankings. Remember, this isn’t necessarily what his rankings will be come next June, but what his projections models forecast as of this day.

The top-three are some pretty hefty names: Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant — in that order.
