Wolfson had both former Coach of the Year and, most recently, former Sacramento Kings head coach George Karl on his Scoop podcast to discuss the Thibodeau hiring and the Timberwolves roster.
Karl was effusive in his praise of both, as he considers Thibodeau a top-five NBA coach and “wouldn’t count [the Timberwolves] out” next season when it comes to the playoffs, noting that if it isn’t next year it will certainly be the following season when the make the postseason.
The future Hall-of-Famer was also a little self-deprecating in noting that the Wolves “kicked [the Kings] butts” in beating them four times during the 2015-16 season, so he is fully aware of just how dangerous Minnesota’s young core is and will be in the coming years.
