Flip Saunders expressed optimism about where his Timberwolves team is headed on Monday, telling reporters he's less interested in making the playoffs next season than he is in building a legitimate winner.
"I don't want to get to the playoffs; I want to build a team that can win in the playoffs. That's what we're trying to do," the Timberwolves president/coach said during his year-end news conference at Target Center. "If you're going to try to do quick fixes just to get there, you might get there, but you might be back out of it soon. That's not what our goal is.
