Gophers women's soccer finding homegrown players do the trick

Most University of Minnesota athletics programs try to keep Minnesota's best high school talent in state to play for the Gophers. Few have executed as well as the women's soccer team.

Five of the seven members of the 2015 recruiting class are from the Minnesota, three from the East Metro: Park's Maddie Castro, Eagan's Molly Fiedler and Hill-Murray's Emily Heslin, a Woodbury native.

The class also features fellow Minnesotans April Bockin (Eden Prairie) and Emily Peterson (Prior Lake), as well as Centennial, Colo., native Kailee Sharp and Iceland native Hugrun Fridriksdottir.

Coach Stefanie Golan called the class strong, balanced and versatile.
