Reliever Jeremy Jeffress a bright spot in Brewers' season

When a team is having a poor season, strong performances by individuals sometimes can be overlooked.

In a Milwaukee Brewers relief corps that has been solid for the most part, Jeremy Jeffress has been a standout pitching a full season in the majors for the first time. The 27-year-old right-hander continued that trend Wednesday night with two perfect innings in a 9-4 victory over Pittsburgh.

In 59 outings, Jeffress is 4-0 with a 2.68 earned run average. He has pitched 532/3 innings, allowing 50 hits and 16 walks with 51 strikeouts. Of the 28 runners he has inherited, only 10 have scored.
