Brewers place Jonathan Lucroy on disabled list with fractured toe, call up Juan Centeno

After Monday's 6-1 loss to the Reds, the Brewers confirmed the worst: Jonathan Lucroy is heading to the disabled list with a fractured toe. To take his place on the roster, Juan Centeno will be called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Lucroy took a foul tip off the bat of Zack Cozart in the sixth inning, getting hit right on his toe. The Brewers originally left their All Star catcher in the game, but after he hobbled off the field following a fly out in his next at-bat he came out in favor of Martin Maldonado.

Fractured toes have historically cost players close to a month on average, with players like Robinson CanoRyan Dempster and Ryan Madson dealing with similar injuries in recent years.
